Happy Hormone Chicken Bone Broth - Don’t throw your chicken carcass away! Use is to make the easiest homemade bone bronth. Which is one of my hormone balancing morning rituals, which makes your skin glow, and your hormones sing.

This recipe uses a leftover organic chicken carcass, carrots, celery, onion, ginger, turmeric, leftover herbs, star anise, apple cider vinegar, and @alivewater spring water. The slow-cooker method allows the ingredients to simmer for several hours, creating a deep, rich, nutrient dense broth.

With just a pinch of salt and a squeeze of lemon juice, this bone broth is a delicious and nourishing way to start your day.

Ingredients:

  • 1 organic chicken carcass + bones
  • 2 large carrots, chopped
  • 2 celery stalks, chopped
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 thumb piece of ginger + turmeric
  • 1 star anise
  • 1 cup cilantro stems
  • 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar
  • Enough spring water to cover the ingredients in the slow cooker
  • To serve, pinch of salt + queeze of lemon juice
Instructions:

  1. Place the chicken carcass, chopped veggies in a slow cooker.
  2. Add enough spring water to cover the ingredients.
  3. Add the apple cider vinegar to the slow cooker.
  4. Set the slow cooker on low heat and let it cook for 8-12 hours (overnight).
  5. After the broth has been slow cooked, turn off the slow cooker and let the broth cool down slightly.
  6. Strain the broth using a fine mesh strainer to remove any solids.
  7. Pour the broth into clean glass mason jars.
  8. Store the jars of bone broth in the fridge.
  9. To serve, heat up a cup of bone broth on the stove or in the microwave until warm.
  10. Add a pinch of salt and a squeeze of lemon juice to taste.
